Prairie Paws Animal Shelter & Adoption Center

Grand Prairie, TX

In response to increased demand and lack of capacity and resources, the City of Grand Prairie hired Quorum to renovate and expand their original 14,910 square foot animal shelter. In order to remain operational during construction and fund the project over time, Quorum organized the construction in three phases over a four-year period.

With the goal of creating a healthier, safer environment, the 9,226 square foot addition includes an adoptable/spay kennel wing with get-to-know courtyards, exercise runs, canine maternity kennel and quarantine/isolation. By relocating the existing sally port, Quorum was able to create space for additional feline services including their Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. Also included in the renovation is a medical room and a check-in area for intake and processing.

Quorum replaced the old, insufficient HVAC units with a large-capacity commercial unit that provides improved air flow, odor and disease control as well as a more comfortable experience for visitors, staff and animals.
