Carrollton Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility

One of our 40 plus animal shelter projects is the beautiful Carrollton Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility. As a gateway to the McInnish Sports Complex Park in Carrollton, the city wanted a project that would complement some of the existing elements in the park. Quorum decided to use a matching stone veneer, which, when combined with the large glass storefront, not only defines the entrance but catches the attention of citizens as they drive down Sandy Lake Blvd. At night, the stone is highlighted with a soft warm light.

Inside we continued to break away from the old traditional shelter image by creating a conditioned, quiet, pleasing interior that invites the public and keeps them engaged long enough to fall in love with one of the animals begging to be taken home. We included a large outdoor get-to-know space that allows the prospective owners to interact with dogs in a backyard type environment. Although the number of animals housed at the facility increased significantly, we incorporated efficiency in the design that allows the kennel attendants to clean the animal areas in less time than was previously possible.
